The Nostalgia Trap

Cities are living projects, and must be constantly edited, often by an invisible hand—one structure needs to be deleted to make room for another, an early draft of this neighborhood is recast in a newer, tighter form. If nostalgia rules the day, nothing changes, nothing moves forward.

The slide show that is part of the article is quite nice. The print article doesn’t have that, and there is no indication that there is one noted. Good thing that I wanted to post a link with the quote above.

I have always been a fan of late 19th early 20th century industrial buildings. Could it have anything to do with growing up in northeast Jersey?
